Halfling Militia
Having picked up a copy of Dragon Rampant, I set about digging out my old collection of Fantasy Miniatures. The intention is for each of my daughters to build a warband of their choice, and so the first selection up - Halflings.

Lord Brooke's Regiment
Another addition to my ECW forces, this time some recruits for the Parliamentarian cause the Lord Brooke's Regiment. Although the regiment was short lived in terms of the English Civil War as a whole, I simply cannot resist the lure to add the only purple coated regiment from the conflict to my to my collection.
The figures were an eBay find that have been given a refurbishment. Unfortunately I didn't take photos of the before condition, something I all too frequently forget to do in my eagerness to get started. I believe the figures are Bicorne and Renegade miniatures.
First I replaced all the pikes and changed the position of the figures on one base, then gave all the figures a wash with Army Painter Strong Tone Ink. (All was done with the figures based). Once dry I picked out some highlights, concentrating on hands, faces and coats. Then it was simple enough to match the finish on the bases to my existing collection and add some new flags, this time from Wargames Designs. This was a very quick way to add much needed reinforcements to my Parliamentarians.

ACW Confederates 13th Alabama Regiment
Another unit raised for the Confederacy, 28mm Sash & Sabre miniatures with the flag of the 13th Alabama regiment from Maverick Models.

1866 Austrian Infantry
Finished a second unit of 1866 Austrians. The figures are 28mm NorthStar 1866, the flag is from the War Flag site.
Thoughts are starting to turn towards Salute next month, planning pre orders and looking through the list of demonstration games and taking note of those I want to see. I'm really looking forward to seeing what games are on display this year, and as usual I will taking my camera with me and hope to Post some pictures of the day like last year.

ACW Confederate 6th Alabama Regiment
Another Unit for my fledgling Confederate army. 28mm Sash and Sabre Miniatures, bearing the colours of the 6th Alabama regiment, a lovely cloth flag from Maverick Models.
I've had a long standing interest in the Ametican Civil War, previously owning a 15mm Essex Miniatures Union army, though we parted company many years ago. Having collected Union previously I fancied a change and so started on Confederates in 28mm. I also noticed that the 19th Century is getting a lot of attention on my painting schedule at the moment, so I thought I might as well consider adding Union forces as well, the collector coming out, so I'm mulling over the various choices for my Union forces, but the front runner seems to be Perry Miniatures metals and plastics at the moment.
In addition I have also managed to obtain a copy of the Longstreet rules and card set, so I'll have three rules sets to try out once I've raised enough troops. I couldn't resist getting a copy as they are named after my favourite commander of the war, so probably fate has had a hand in my choices once again.
Still on the 19th Century theme, I am excited about the expansion to the NorthStar 1864 Danes. I haven't bought any of these figures yet, but plan a sizeable purchase this year once the new figures are released. There are also some lovely Saxon infantry for the Franco-Prussian War from Steve Barber Models, I'll certainly be adding some of these at some point as well, the Grenadiers look great. What I'd really like to see from a 19th Century perspective though is a range covering the First Schleswig War.
For those not that interested in the 19th Century posts I'll also be endeavouring over the next few months to add some Fantasy, ECW, Ancients and of course a good dose of 18th Century (which is my main period of interest).
