Early Achaemenid Persian Foot

Persian spearmen, 28mm 1st Corps miniatures for my Early Achaemenid Persian army.
1st Corps have a  nice range of Achaemenid Persian miniatures at excellent value for money.
I'm hoping to eventually have lots of different miniatures in an attempt to represent the diversity of the army.

WSS French Cavalry Regiment La Fontaine

The first of my WSS French Cavalry, 2 squadrons of the Regiment La Fontaine.

I chose to paint this regiment as it was present at the battles of Blenheim (1704), Ramilles (1706)  and Oudenaarde (1708).
From 1704 the Regiment was under the command of Nicholas, comte de La Fontaine. I therefore chose to use the La Fontaine arms and speculated on the livery colors of green and white for the musician.

The figures are 28mm Front Rank Figurines, the flag is hand painted and based upon reference material taken from Robert Hall, Giancarlo Boeri and Yves Roumegoux (Standards and Uniforms of the French Cavalry under Louis XIV, 1688-1714, published by the Pike and Shot Society). I can highly recommend the Pike and Shot Society publications for anyone interested in this period, in my opinion an invaluable source of information.

The buildings were from POP Enterprises. The squadrons are based on 75mm x 60mm mdf bases (from Warbases) for Beneath the Lily Banners, though I will also be using Black Powder.

1866 Prussian Uhlans

It's been a while since I posted something from my 1860s project. Newly painted some 28mm Prussian Uhlans from the North Star Miniatures 1866 range. These are really lovely figures, I've got another 6 on the work bench at the moment so hope to show these soon.

The next few posts over the Christmas period will be varied covering updates to -
  • WSS French
  • 1866 Prussians
  • 1066 Saxons
  • Achaemenid Persians
  • Seleucids

World War II Germans

Some pictures of my WWII Germans, a mix of 28mm Warlord Games, Artizan Designs that I painted myself and some Battle Honours miniatures that I picked up off eBay. The models are also a mix of metal and plastic. Explosion markers were bought of eBay from Small Terrain Miniature Scenery.

Primarily the army was built to play Bolt Action, I also have copy of Chain of Command by Too Fat Lardies that I intend trying out at some point.

The section of wall was made from cut up plastic sprues, the bits usually thrown away.
