GrandManner Connewitz House

Recently finished my second GrandManner building, this time the Connewitz House from the 28mm Napoleonic Europe range for my 1866 project. I have another two buildings to complete for this particular set.

It's a lovely model and suprisingly easy to paint up. I started by painting the wooden frame work first in Foundry Bay Brown, Army Painter Strong Tone ink, then dry brushed with the Foundry Bay Brown set. Then I painted the daub with Foundry Canvas, the outer edges in the lightest shade. The thatch was painted with Foundry Ochre, given a wash with Army Painter Strong Tone ink, then dry brushed with the Foundry Ochre set. The stones were painted in various colours from the Foundry Paint set. The window panes were painted with Vallajo Prussian blue. I also used Foundry Gun Metal and Conker Brown.

I'm pleased at the way it's turned out, particularly the flowers which I painted by dabbing different colours and shades on whilst the others were still wet.

Catherine the Great

Not something from myself this time, but a little news from greater wargaming world for all those interested in 18th Century wargaming, a very nice miniature of Cathrine the Great has been announced by Bad Squiddo Games. I can see her fitting perfectly into many ImagiNation armies.

So if you like Catherine the Great, or just seeing many other interesting new sculpts it's well worth taking a little time to pop over to the Dice Bag Lady 'Annie' owner and purveyor of Bad Squidoo Games miniatures, as well as other interesting items. I'd also like to add customer service is excellent.

Prussian Infantry and Army Photos

At long last I've finished one of my projects (well for the moment), as I've painted all the 1866 Prussians that I have. To be honest I've already started looking at further recruits but haven't purchased any more yet!

So as I continue to paint the 1866 Austrians as an opponent I thought I'd post some pictures of the Prussian army as a whole for everyone to have a look at. I've had great fun painting these, and I'm looking forward to committing them to some wargaming action.

Fear not I'm sure this will be continued at some point...

Prussian Uhlans

I've completed the Uhlans for my Prussian army. The figures are 28mm and from the North Star 1866 range. They are painted as the 2nd Pomeranian Uhlan Regiment No. 9.
The flag is courtesy of Warflags.

Confederate Artillery

Some artillery added to my Confederates, these are 28mm miniatures by Sash & Sabre. I've had these lying around for far too long now in an unfinished state, so I dug them out and quickly finished them off.
The bases are 50mm x 100mm.

I'm hoping to use these for Black Powder and Bull Run to Gettysburg rules.

1866 Prussian Command and Artillery

Added a command set to my 1866 Prussians. These are from Wargames Foundry, and the Grenadiers are from North Star 1866 range, as is the artillery piece and crew.

I've chosen to base the artillery on a single base 50mm x 100mm as the gun is resin and too fragile to leave unbased as I did with the metal one from Wargames Foundry.
