Mycenaean Spearmen 2

Finally, the promised 28mm Newline Miniatures Mycenaean Spearmen. The larger bases will be for Impetus and Hail Caesar games. I'm quite pleased with how the Newline figures have painted up, though would have preferred larger shields. The buildings in the background are from a recent eBay purchase and will be used in Biblical and Crusades games, and might even be used for Sci-Fi. The Crusades is another project I have in the pipeline, there'll be two armies for SAGA and Lion Rampant appearing sometime in 2023 if everything goes to plan.

All that's left is for me to wish everyone

NADOLIG LLAWEN

HAPPY CHRISTMAS

Mycenaean Skirmishers

I'm fortunate to be off work for a couple of days, and wanting to make some progress with my Bronze Age project. The challenge is what to do as temperatures reach the high 20's, as I write it's already 26 degrees C and rising. I might have a go at assembling chariots for the various Bronze Age armies, I think it might be too hot to paint, but sticking models together might be possible.

Below are a mixture of Slingers and Archers for my Mycenaean army based as skirmishers. All the figures are 28mm Wargames Foundry. I’m still working on the Newline Designs contingent, and itching to get them finished, based and pictures posted on the blog. I’m also keen to complete the Mycenaean army and get cracking with the New Kingdom Egyptians. In the meantime, I do have a few posts ready to keep the blog ticking along until I have more Bronze Age updates.

Mycenaean Archers

Mycenaean archers 28mm miniatures from Wargames Foundry. I have some Newline Design archers that I'm currently working on, these are being painted alongside the Newline Spearmen.

I'm hoping to get back into the painting seat soon and start churning out units. In the meantime I've been looking through the lead pile and thinking about future projects once the Bronze Age one is completed. There are some strong contenders for next up project wise, but I won't spill the beans yet as I'm likely to change my mind. The only thing I'll say is that there are two 15mm contenders and at least one 28mm project gnawing away at my brain. The final decision will most likely be strongly influenced by what I'm reading at the time.

One task that I need to do sooner rather than later is the reorganising and rebasing of my 28mm Wars of the Roses army. One of my opponents has reluctantly had to sell his Wars of the Roses army, and this has led me to rethink my army. I'm not wanting to paint an opposing force, so I'm going to look at splitting my existing army into two and possibly repaint some of the liveries. The armies will then be based for DBA and Basic Impetus. Though I'm also mulling over Bloody Barons, which might avoid the dreaded rebasing? I have a bit of thinking to do.

Mycenaean Javelinmen

Some 28mm Javelinmen based as skirmishers for my Mycenaean army. Figures are Wargames Foundry.

A busy period at work has left me short of hobby time, and yesterday on one of my days off it was far too hot to paint. It's a lot cooler today so hopefully I'll get a chance to do something hobby related, either work on the Mycenaeans that are currently on the paint table or maybe dig out my Wars of The Roses army and look at reorganising and rebasing to suit the rules I'm currently playing.

Mycenaean Chariots

A main attraction of wargaming the Bronze Age is all the chariots that can be mustered, these are 28mm Mycenaean chariots from Wargames Foundry. These are the first three chariots for my Mycenaean army, I have another eight to assemble and paint for the Mycenaeans from a mix of Wargames Foundry, Newline Designs and Redoubt Enterprises.

I'm currently on the second batch of Newline Designs spearmen, once finished I'll base them up and post pictures.
