Yorkist Handgunners

28mm handgunners from Perry Miniatures plastic set WR 20 'Mercenaries', European Infantry 1450-1500, based for Swordpoint

The Wars of the Roses army is almost complete, most units are currently being based; there may be a few small additions at a later date, but it's pretty much ready for play.

The next projects include collecting a set for Test of Honour, this really seems to have caught the eye at the local club; and a new set of French Indian Wars figures for Sharp Practice and Muskets and Tomahawks (another easy to transport game for a club meeting).

I also hope to get some photos of my recently painted 15mm Napoleonic Peninsular War Anglo-Portuguese army that has already seen action twice this year; and even more amazingly victorious on both occasions!

Other news is the arrival of the eagerly awaited Beneath the Lily Banners 3; and on first impressions I'm certainly impressed, an absolutely superb book. I was hoping to get a first solo test game last Sunday, but a bout of food poisoning meant that my best laid plans have been laid waste. Hopefully in the next few weeks I'll get an opportunity to run through  the rules.

Wars of the Roses Artillery

Wars of the Roses artillery, painted for my Yorkist forces, though by choosing the Warwick livery they can also change sides! These are 28mm Perry Miniatures, lovely to paint and based for Swordpoint.

Yorkist allies Burgundian Pike

Additional support for the Yorkist army, Burgundian Pike. 28mm figures from Perry Miniatures plastic set WR 20 'Mercenaries', European Infantry 1450-1500, and supplemented with a couple  of metal figures from their range. The flag is Burgundian Flanders and taken from the box set. A nice unit to field for my Yorkists, and sets them apart from their Lancastrian opponents. Still have to touch up the edges of the flag.

Sir Thomas Harrington of Hornby

Start of a new project, intended for a club game, the Wars of the Roses. These are 28mm Perry Miniatures with banners and retinue badges from Citadel Six Design. The intention to base this set for use with Swordpoint and Hail Caesar

First retinue up is for the Yorkist forces of Sir Thomas Harrington of Hornby. There will be further retinues representing Sir John Neville, Marquess Montague; Sirs Richard Neville of Middleham, 5th Earl of Salisbury and Eldest son (pre- Earl of Warwick),  and Sir Robert Ogle of Ogle, Lord of Ogle.

This will be the third time that I have painted forces up for the Wars of Roses. Previous armies included a large set of 28mm Wargames Foundry figures sold many years ago, and resides somewhere in the United States. The other was a 15mm collection that was sold a few years ago.  It seems that this is a conflict I'm repeatedly drawn to, and it certainly provides some interesting battles.
