Orkney's 'The Royal Scots' Regiment of Foot

The next battalion to take the field for my WSS British army is Orkney's, 'The Royal Scots'. Figures are 28mm Front Rank Figurines and the flag is from Maverick Models.

    Nice collection of British units Meic - Front Rank are hard to beat although I used predominantly plastic figures from Wargames Factory for my WSS force...sneeked a couple of Front Rank and an Ebor infantry unit in too though!

      Thanks rross, the Wargames Factory are a great way to build up armies quickly and cost effectively, and hopefully will attract more people into the period. I do like Front Rank though, so I've indulged myself.

    Meic, why if your regiment is from the WSS are the facings white? reading your link then

    "In 1684 they became the Royal Regiment of Foot which entitled them to wear blue facings, as other Royal regiments. For some reason they do not appear to have changed facings until the time of Queen Anne"

    I'm puzzled as I'm about to paint Orkney's and my two sources disagree.

      Hi Will, apologies for the very late reply, not been on the blog for a long time. I can't recall off and exactly why I went with white facings as memory fails me (should have documented in the blog), I do remember at the time being torn between white and blue facings but went with white. I haven't my books to hand as they're currently in storage, will try and dig them out next time I'm there as I now need to refresh my memory. Sorry my reply will be too late for your painting, as I know you'll have forged ahead. Hope you're keeping well?
