So what's been happening? Well little on the painting front I'm afraid, the new job has an early finish on a Friday, and this last week I planned to dedicate a little time to the hobby. Alas things didn't quite go to plan as I managed to suffer a mild case of wargamers finger; a self inflicted wound whilst prepping some Front Rank figures. In this instance I managed to stab myself with a scalpel, only a small entry point but it went quite deep, resulting in a steady flow of blood, which put me out of action for the rest of the afternoon as I nursed my near fatal wound (if only I had thought to reach for the super glue things could have been different, and I could have soldiered on well into the night).
I feel like a rank amateur.
Below are pictured some of the Front Rank figures that witnessed my injury. These are being painted to the highest standard I can achieve, something I've held off for a while as I've been struggling with carpal tunnel syndrome and arthritis in both hands this year, and I'm not sure I can paint to the standard I was at previously but I'm going to give it a go. I'm hoping to have these ready for Salute and delivery to Alec of Front Rank Figurines. I feel that I can manage it, just been a confidence issue I think.
So feeling a little sorry for myself, I advanced swiftly to the fridge and retrieved a bottle of fine stout from the Shepherd Neame & Company. Now I'll admit to being partial to a drop of the black stuff, and this is a particularly fine brew in my humble opinion. Please note that I partook of this fine brew post injury and it was in no way contributory to the previous event.
What is the link to the post title 'Something a little 17th Century Flavoured' - well Shepherd Neame is the Britain's oldest brewer since 1698, and Front Rank Figurines are from the superb 17th Century Range so it seemed a good choice.
The figures are of course for scale (28mm Minden Miniatures, on the work bench).
There are still some more figures to photograph and add for the AWI British, once I get some time I'll add them to the blog. Hopefully I can also manage to start a steady flow of painted figures, and maybe just maybe finish Guilford Courthouse....
