Royal Italien
The third new battalion, the Royal Italien. Once again 28mm figures from Front Rank and the flag is one I made myself printed onto cotton and painted. The brown coats make a change to the grey of my other French units.

More Carts and Wagons
It's just too hot to paint anything at the moment, so I thought I'd reveal a few additional carts and wagons I've recently acquired. All from Warbases these are nice kits and easy to assemble, included is an ammunition wagon, engineers wagon, water cart and finally hay cart. These can be purchased individually or as a pack.
Two of these will be making appearances on bases to the rear of my WSS French artillery, well that's the intention....

GrandManner Holzhausen Thatched Cottage
The final of the three buildings I bought for my 1866 project, the Holzhausen Thatched Cottage by GrandManner from their 28mm Napoleonic Europe range. Yet another lovely model and a pure joy to paint.
I've included a couple of shots of all three buildings together.
Looking forward to fighting a few battles out over them once I've completed all the miniatures....getting close now.....

Gardes Suisse
The second of my four new WSS French battalions is the Gardes Suisse. Based on the flag alone this is a unit that every WSS French army must have, and I just couldn't resist.
28mm Front Rank Figurines, my own flags, painted on cotton.

Martian Tripods - Invasion Earth!
Lots of Martian Tripods have been spotted.
I finally dug these out and decided to get them painted and played with as soon as possible. My earlier tripods have been repainted and are included in the Martian forces below. I decided that the finish was too dark and I've gone for a lighter shinier look and I'm happy with the results. Small areas have been gloss varnished for effect; the eye, parts of the ray gun and the spheres of green gas.
The set consists of two groups of three Assault tripods, each with Green Gas and Black Dust weapons. In support are six scout tripods.
These are all for use with All Quiet on the Martian Front rules.
The good news is that these models will become available once again with the Robot Peanut inventory and IP being acquired by a company in the US called Ironclad Games. These really are lovely kits and I'm looking forward to seeing how the game develops in the future...
There will be more things Martian appearing soon.....

Regiment Charost
My WSS French army is coming along nicely, and here is the first of four new battalions. The Regiment Charost.
The figures are 28mm Front Rank Figurines, on 60 x 60mm bases. The buildings are old POP Enterprises.
The delay in getting these photographed for the blog has been that I've been making my own flags. Partly motivated by wanting certain flags that are not produced commercially. These are a mix of printed and hand painted onto cotton. First I created the images, then I printed them onto cotton material for use with inkjet printers. The Colonels colour was left in it's printed format and the regimental colour was painted. I'm really pleased with the way these have turned out, and will be making more in the future for other projects as well as my WSS French.
The Regiment Charost served at Blenheim, Oudenaarde, and Malplaquet (in 1709 it became Bethune).
