Hey Meic,a reaĺly great,cohesive look to these units.....as always!. The area that really "pops" is the cuffs and buttons, did you paint a darker colour strip and then brass the buttons or is it a drop of wash brushed on after the brass? The technique really defines the cuff details. Have to admit my troops buttons hardly show up, I can see why now,well done fella!.
Hi Mike, thanks for the kind comments, feel free to ask any questions no secrets to protect here! I paint the area for the buttons in black then simply add the buttons in a bright brass - I use Foundry Bronze Barrel 103C, and don't bother with the shade and mid, just go straight to the highlight for buttons. It's usually the very last thing I paint on a miniature.

Thanks for the compliment, very much appreciated. I've always enjoyed painting Front Rank without doubt the manufacturer I enjoy painting the most. I do like Ebor as well, I find they take a little longer, but I suspect that's partially down to the number of figures I've painted. But if I was told I could only pick one, it would be Front Rank. Fortunately I don't have to, it's nice to have a little variety.

I like the red for the stockings, is that just because they are germans in french service? Not questioning, more of wondering. thanks again for the post, its wonderful!
Thanks Chris. I honestly can't recall it was so long ago. I'm pretty confident I had a reference for all the units. My WSS reference books are at my Dads at the moment in storage, I will dig them out and add to the post. Please feel free to ask questions, I'll try and answer.
Hi Chris, update on uniforms for Greder Allemand, my source was the work by Robert Hall, Flags and Uniforms of the French Infantry under Louis XIV, 1688-1714. Published by the Pike and Shot Society.
Thank you so much for taking the trouble to look it up! really appreciated! I intend on painting one battalion of these since they were involved in so many different battles over time, and they are so unique looking.
